| What
people are saying: . |
| There's a new movement
to hit the state of Texas; one that involves the hatred of celebrities, the
insanity of friendship and the insistent degrading of 'emo.' It's known as
"Celebrity Cult" and the message couldn't be any clearer. This indie film
revolves around a group of six teenagers on a mission to show big time
celebrity 'Brad Schmidt' the poor side of life. The innocent celebrity dies
an estimated three times in the film, which only sounds absurd to someone
who hasn't watched it. The leader of the 'cult' (Mark Hannah) brings his
hatred into action when he joins forces will his dorky friends and
girlfriend for what was supposed to be an enlighting experience of an over
exposed star, but it turns out that they learn a lot more from this mission.
This film may sound like a diabolical killing spree but it's actually a
clever comedy that teaches a lesson in the end. Though, like every low
budget indie film, this movie had it's flaws; it was still a great escape
from the everyday mainstream blockbuster filled with sex. The soundtrack is
huge, with bands like Reverand Horton Heat, Hot New Couple, Greyskull,
Farstar, Barefoot and even Stavesacre from Tooth & Nail. The leader's
girlfriend Jennifer (Rebekah Cooper) summed it up best at the end when she
said, "Once that I found out that he (Brad Schmidt) was just a person, it's
just not the same...." RIYL - Saving Silverman, Cecil B. Demented, Elephant Grade: A- Reviewed by: Matthew The Wake-Up Mag http://www.thewakemag.net/reviews_celebritycult1.html http://www.thewakemag.net/ |

| Thank you for the passes
to the premiere last night. My daughter Aundie and I enjoyed the movie we
purchased a DVD to share with some friends and Aundie loved the t-shirt as
well. Orange is her favorite color. . By the way we stayed for the question
and answer, but was unable to attend the party. My favorite part was the
chase when the car did the donuts. Thanks again Ray Clark |
